Confirmed: Wolves make decisions on two Nigerians – one offered new deal, the other released

Through a statement on the official website, Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers have published their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2024-2025 season, with decisions made on two defenders of Nigerian descent. a185c

At academy level, Testimony Igbinoghene is set to embark on a new chapter in his career following his release by Wolves, while an offer has been made to Temple Ojinnaka.

Ojinnaka is a versatile player who can be deployed as a central defender and is also comfortable playing in the center of the pitch.

Born in Italy, the 20-year-old came to Wolves at the age of 12, but it took a long time to get his registration sorted out and he started playing games for the club eighteen months later.

Last season, he featured in ten games across Premier League 2, EFL Trophy and Premier League Cup.

Ojinnaka earned his first call-up for a Premier League game in April 2024 when Wolves visited the Emirates Stadium but was an unused substitute.

In what proved to be his final season at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Igbinoghene made a solitary appearance in Premier League 2, suggesting he was no longer part of the club's plans.

Meanwhile, Tom Edozie – the younger brother of Southampton forward Sam Edozie, who is on the radar of Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle – is among the U24 players retained by Wolves.

Wes Okoduwa, son of former Nigeria international Emmanuel Okoduwa, will enter the second year of his scholarship in July 2025.

Saheed Olagunju, who ed Wolves from Chelsea last summer, has also been retained.
